Would like to ask for your expert opinion , any suggestions on how to disinfect aerochamber/spacer that has been use by Covid-19 atient?
In such situations....
1. Negative pressure ventilation is needed..
2. Frequent fogging ( after taking all precautions) with some efficient disinfectant is recommended.
3. Sprayers, atomiser with quality disinfectants etc are to be used.
4. Standard precautions are to be practiced 24X7....
5. Thorough wet mopping of the space with good quality soap water/>70% alcoholic preparation/ hypochlorite/other quality disinfectant is demanded...
6. Well washed+ CSSD treated items like instrument, linens etc are advised...
7. UV-C lamps could be used to disinfect whole area ( without humans)....
8. Servicing and cleaning of all used devices and their filters is to be done.
9. All biomedical waste should be appropriately managed...etc
10. From entry to exit point of the space...everything is to be disinfected including negative pressure ventilation devices, ACs etc.....
If the question is specific for MDI spacers ..then they should be disassembled and then washed with luke warm water and detergent (dip for 7-10 minutes)..clean any impurities by toothpick under water... rinse them with clean water... shake extra water... let them air dry in sunlight vertically OR dish-wash them in top rack ..Soap water works well against COVID-19....Ask for ETO or UV disinfection too....
