I have a small sample size (29 patients) and divided them into two groups each of which has a different sample size. I have an ordinal scale (dependant variable ) which is a scoring system to assess the functional outcome of the patients. The two groups of patients are independent variables. I used Mann Whitney U test to test whether samples in one group were larger than in another. I chose a standard level of significant (P = 0.05). The problem is that I ended up with an insignificant P value (about 40%). what is the possible way of describing this finding in the result and discussion chapters?
