We are trying to determine nest site productivity among colonial seabirds that are targeted by harvesters and do not want to influence the results with obvious markings on the birds or eggs. One option is UV fluorescence, has anybody used this? Other possibilities?
Is it one colony or more colonies?
P.s. What size (in ha or square meters) has the colony?
It would be up to 5 species (boobies, gulls, and terns) on 3 different islands ranging in size from about 5 ha to 22 ha. Hope this helps and thank you.
OK, the surface (even the total one) is not so big. By any chance do You know what is the average distance between the individual nests? Just roughly...
The closest nests would be about a meter apart while the farthest would be loose colonies along cliffs, up to 10 meters apart.
