If you say animal tissue I would say tripsin. There are protocols which help, as it does not affect the plate.

I don't think there is evidence it would digest microplastics.

I have not experience about this but I guess you can use micro-Fourier transform infrared (micro-FTIR) spectroscopy method to detect it.

Although there are many ways to digest organic matter to isolate MPs, strong acids (such as NHO3) are NOT recommended. This is basically because many types of microplastics are susceptible to degradation in contact with this type of acid, showing disintegration, fractioning, decoloring, among other effects.

The most recommended (and cost-efficient) digestion reagents from my point of view are KOH and H2O2.

I agree with Gabriel, 2-step 10% KOH 40ºC 72 hr plus 30% H2O2 60º is the one I recommend you. Never use high temperatures, because will produce MPs damage. Enzymes are time-consuming and expensive.

KOH (10%) or/and H202 (30%) are suitable. Incubation temperature and duration may vary between protocols (Generally, 60C, between 24 to 72 H depending on how much your tissue is digested). References about this are available, you have just to do some effort on searching. I suggest for you Dehaut et al., 2016.
