Suppose you have two FESEM images that look similar to the eye. The two images are from samples that are prepared under different conditions. Now I really want to analyse these images with some tool or method and see that these images are same/different analytically. Probably something like a Fourier transform. I am looking for some experience and advice here. Thank you in advance.
You can use EDS or ICP or CHNS analysis. EDS elemental analysis and its mapping will work for your case, I think.
You can use a battery of analyses such as XRD, CHNS, N2 adsorption, TEM, XPS, DRS-IR and the others.....
You can try each one you have access...
Not entirely certain about what you want to do without actually seeing the pictures but I might suggest this for paired image comparison (will allow you to look for image1 to image2 differences).
Use FiJi, open both your pictures and simply try to subtract one from the other : Process menu, Image Calculator
Provided your pictures are not shifted (systematic X/Y shift or rotation) and centered on the same spot, taken at the same magnification with the same contrast (lots of ifs !), this is an wuick and easy way to get a first idea.
You can also work with colocalization : Analyze menu, Colocalization, Colocalization Threshold and play with it (will highlight different areas with a color from two gray levels pictures, can yield the colocalization matrix for further computing, etc, etc).
Again, without seeing the pictures, this is guesswork and any shift or unregistration issue between both pictures will make things more difficult (you should then attempt to re-register the images before analysis).
