We have in India, Classopollis pollen assigned to Cheirolepidiaceae by many previous workers, but never reported any megafossils of this family. The fossil leaf axes of Brachyphyllum and Pagiophyllum, usually considered under Araucariaceae (Bose and Maheshwari, 1974) are reported from the early Cretaceous of India. What is interesting is, these fossils are usually found to be associated with the sediments, which have yielded Classopollis pollen. But it has been shown that pollen of this type is produced by the Araucariaceae and Cheirolepidiaceae (Srivastava, 1976, Tosolini et al., 2015).
