Let's say you have an article and under the 'Methods' section it does not specify what type of article it is and you want to critically appraise this article. So how can one confirm the article type in order to critically appraise it and use the correct appraisal tool ?

Thank you for your prompt reply. However in some articles, it is not mentioned clearly in the intro or methods section. So it creates difficulty in using the correct critical appraisal tool. That's what is creating a bit of difficulty for me.
