Various computer science and management models such as Cobit, ISO, BS or ITIL could be considered as practitioner based theories - is there a model or framework that outlines what models, standards or frameworks can be based on? Could these frameworks be mapped to Governance theories such as Institutional, Organisation etc. Theories?
Maybe your question has some links with scientific methodology positioning, which is often considered in the early stage of research projects.
For example maybe you can set some of your models and standards within the framework of the inductive method (generalizing from a practice/empirical context) while others are more deductive.
