Measuring oxygen levels reliably and fast in any kind of liquid is probably easiest using any type of dissolved oxygen sensor. I prefer and frequently use an optical oxygen sensor (Neofox) which works fast, reliable and accurate (you will have to calibrate it though). These sensors are not cheap, but we are fortunate to have one in our research group.
I would send an email around your department to see if anyone has one that you could borrow (this worked for me when I worked at another Uni).
