I am designing a gas turbine combustor test rig for my research activities. To ensure a uniform distribution of air going into the combustion chamber, I would like to attach a plenum/settling chamber upstream of the burner. I don't know the design guidelines for plenum chambers.

Hi Nooral,
Instead of plenum chember you need to replicate OGV exit conditions. Having plenum before fuel spray nozzle, you are not accounting flow variations due to OGV. In case you are assuming uniform flow condition then a appropriate diffuser will be needed. This to some degree will create relavant and approriate flow upstream of fuel spray nozzle. Will be happy to help further.

I also looked for it few days back but I could not find any dedicated guidelines for it since it mainly depends on the design conditions (NDF, mass flow rates etc.) which are subjective and may vary case to case. However I had some literature which you might refer for conceptualization and CFD analysis .

In my cases, I made choked inlet condition with the uniform flow using plenum design.
As followed by my test rig, I give Ma = 1 condition area ratio between the plenum to the next chamber.
