Hello, pardon me, I require technical assistance concerning my final project at university. At the moment, I'm attempting to deduce the relationship between GDP, energy consumption, and CO2 emissions (CO2 being the dependent variable) using data from the years 1970-2023. Using the multiple breakpoint test in Eviews, I've encountered that each variable has its own structural breaks with different years. How does one deal with these structural breaks in estimating an ARDL model? Must I create several dummy variables for all of the breakpoints, or is there a better way to navigate this problem, or is it unnecessary to include any dummy variables altogether? Pardon me for my lack of knowledge. I really appreciate any help you can provide.
