How to create surface interaction between surface orientated at different angle and rigid plate in compression simulation in Abaqus?

Hello,

I am currently stuck in the interaction of comlex shape specimen with the rigid plate in simulation in Abaqus. The surface is element based having different normal direction. There is issue that in some region the surface which is having normal oriented at angle to rigid plate normal will lead to interaction failure.

How can we have normal of all surface parallel to rigid plate normal?

Your effort in resolving my doubt is really appreciated....
