I have created a geometry in Workbench that consists of 3 different areas (IMG2) , It is a 2D model and i have to perform a coupled field analysis, which is possible only in APDL. After creating the input file and reading it in APDL, I have to overlap the areas. I'm not able to select any areas in APDL as it says "no areas are defined" . Could someone please tell me if there is a way to define areas in APDL after importing the geometry from Workbench

No, I did it from File>Read input from.
I did not use, Preprocessor> archive model> read.
The problem is not only while importing from NX. I'm having the same issue while using the default design modeler in Workbench too. I'm stuck here.
Use .igs format to import geometry in apdl. Preprocessor> archive model> read> solid model> (select .igs).

Initaially i wrote an input file from workbench (.inp format) and read the file from apdl file menu (Read input file).
I tried importing the geometry using .igs format, and it works. But my aim is to import the preprocessor settings that were created on workbench. Because i want to have named selections in the model to perform a coupled field analysis. This is the reason I created the geometry and applied initial boundary conditions and created named selections. If I just import the geometry file, i do not have named selections. Is there a way to create named selections directly in apdl?
As far as I know, named selection does not work in apdl. However you can make components with desired names manually.

How do I create components in apdl? Can it be done using Areas (if the geometry is done directly in apdl).
