I have eight index items but respondents are randomly assigned to answer four of the eight items. How do I create an index based on the items. I can't simply ask the eight items together because everyone has missing data so no one is included in the completed index. Thanks for your help!
Hello Kim L. Fridkin. Can you provide a small dataset (or listing) that shows what the index variables look like now and what you want the new index variable to look like? Thanks.
compute index=mean(var1, var2, var3, var4, var5, var6, var7, var8).
Index will be based only on the variables that have been answered.
