I wan to create random combinations of the collumns in a matrix 9*120, but the number of one must not exeet 9.
I want to use this as a population for a genetic algoritme.
An example :
[11111011100100........0]
[00000111011101000001010..........0]

You can use randi(1,120) to generate 9 indexes of bits to set to one, don't miss to check for duplicate indexes: if an index is generated twice you just need to generate another one.
I have solved this similar to Vito Antonio Nardi:
logical(round(rand(9,120)))
Thank you for your answers. Roman Schlieper, when i use your method, I get the problem that i get more then 9 nummer of 1, out of the 120bits i only want to obtain rendom combinations, of ones, and only 9 number of ones the rest of the Bits has to be zeros.
When i impliment this in a lager code, i vant to use this bit representation to obtain Nine rendom collumns of a matrix.
ok, seems that I understood the question wrong. If you always want 9 of 120 bits as 1, then try this code here:
A = zeros(120,9);
for idx = 1:length(A(1,:))
x = randperm(120,9)';
A(x,idx) = 1;
end
