Thanks, but while converting I am confusing about the units, as my nitrate data is in mg/kg. what should be the unit of Bulk density g/cm or kg/m3 and soil depth cm or m? please help me with mentioned units

Lets say bulk density is 1,3 metric tons per cubic meter, plow layer depth ist 0.3 and NO3 content is 100 mg/kg:

1300 kg/m^3 * 0,3 m * 10000 m^2 = 3900000 kg of soil per ha and plow layer

3900000 kg soil * 0.0001 kg NO3 /kg Soil = 390 kg NO3 /ha in the plow layer

To convert mg/kg to kg/ha we need (i) area (ii) bulk density and (iii) layer depth

If area is 1 ha, bulk density is 1.2 t/m3 and soil depth is 30 cm (0.3m)

volume of soil layer is 10000 X 0.3=3000 m3

Mass of soil layer is 3000 m3 X 1.2 t/m3 = 3600 t or 3600000 kg

If No3 content per kg soil is 10 mg

3600000 X10 = 36 kg NO3 /ha at a layer depth of 30 cm

thanks, could we use this formula? kg/ha= mg N/kg* soil layer thickness* bulk density/10. As i want to convert 0-400 cm soil depths with interval of 20 cm.
