Do you mind to share with me how to convert c++ coding to matlab m file?
Understand that the easiest way is to use matlab mex to compile the c++ code. I'm a newbie in c++, the given c++ code is too complicated to me. I need to convert it to m file for better understanding. The converted file might not necessary to be run in matlab, but I need to understand the c++ code from Matlab language.

I completely agree with what Peter said.
There are corners of C++ that can be intimidating (mostly template meta programming) but I doubt that's what's troubling you. To add to Peter's suggestions, I would run the code with a debugger attached and go step by step, taking notes as I go increase my understanding of the code.
If you can run the code against known data giving known output (or keep a copy of the original output before you modify the code), I would also unit test the thing (my suggestion is to use Catch, a single file, header-only unit test framework).
With this safety net in place, you could even start small refactoring of the code like extract method, rename variables, functions, etc. and be confident that you did not break anything. I use this technique when I face "legacy functions" that have a few hundreds line of poorly documented code in order to better understand it an be able to fix/improve it.
Finally, know that the time you spend in owning your understanding of C++ and unit tests is time well invested. Bite the bullet and use this opportunity to add these skills to your know-how. That will make you a more versatile researcher and they are very important in the industry.

C++ not that difficult to understand, just try to get it first then do your m file. Reverse engineering as peter said. most of us do this way.
