I am currently simulating an acetaldehyde unit. However, I could not find the optimum reflux and number of stages because of the error saying "a minimum reflux of less than zero was calculated". How could I possibly solve that problem? Thanks
Often a column fails to converge because it "dries up" - no liquid is presents somewhere in the column. If you add enough liquid to avoid the problem you can get a converged case. Once you have a converged case you can slowly back out the liquid you added and hopefully it will still converge when all of the liquid feed you added to get a converged case is removed.
