Hello all, I am wondering how to confirm the crystal face in synchrotron XRD data, as shown in following figure. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
I'm sorry but your question is a bit unclear to me. Can you clarify what you mean by "confirming"? Because to me the appearance of these new peaks in XRD mean either that a) there is really a new crystal phase in the sample, or b) stress distorts the crystal so that some normally forbidden reflections become visible.
You didn't provide information about symmetry of the lattice at ambient. The splitting of peaks (additional rings) indicate that there is a symmetry lowering structural phase transition. Introduction of thicker spots suggests that the transition is accompanied with defects formation or formation of more grain boundaries. The transition could be induced by strain.
