Dear friends,

I am trying to find a solution to statistically compare the overall correlation strength between variables in two datasets. The two datasets included measures of the same variables. I want to see whether the overall correlation strength between the variables in one dataset is stronger than the other. To do so, I conducted PCA on the two dataset separately, and calculated the variance explained by the first principle component. If the variance explained by the first principle component is high, in theory the variables are overall more linearly corrected. So now I have two PC1, each for one dataset. My question is how I can perform a statistical test on the difference, so I can say the PC1 for the first dataset is significantly higher or lower than the PC1 for the second dataset.

Many thanks,

Qiang
