To create a sustainable future, innovations are needed that integrate socio-ethical issues. Responsible innovation provides a method for managing these issues, and tries to ensure that innovation is conducted for and with society. The application of responsible innovation in industry contexts, where many of these innovations are developed, is limited by challenges related to dominant business logics, stakeholder management problems and resource constraints. Open innovation is an approach more commonly employed within industry contexts, which involves activities that overlap with responsible innovation dimensions and practices. This means that open innovation could represent a way to integrate the management of socio-ethical factors into industry contexts in a less disruptive and costly way. I would like to discuss opportunities and barriers to integrate both concepts. We have written a first exploratory article on this topic (see attachment), but I would like to learn from other viewpoints and also other disciplines, as much more conceptual and empirical work is needed.

The advantages of companies that rely on open innovation lie in the transparency of communication and the various relationships they have with their external stakeholders - customers, competitors, suppliers, etc. They use the most appropriate channels for communication, are well aware of the requirements and requirements of key stakeholder groups. In this way, they can realize innovations that better meet market trends, respond to customer needs, and in many cases reformulate them. They also build more serious systems that provide them with interactions and exchange of information and knowledge. An essential component of open innovation is networking, which facilitates the transfer of knowledge, resources, technologies between companies. Companies that adopt and apply the concept of open innovation also emphasize the importance of value creation, involving the various stakeholder groups and, above all, the clients in the process, which requires clear goals and building trust and confidence.
In light of the preceding, we can assume that open innovation companies will also implement responsible innovation. A prerequisite for this, however, is the existence of a corporate culture that tolerates and encourages the company's innovative efforts.

According to the CSR concept, companies are no longer just manufacturers of goods and services; they are active participants in the public regimes of communities and societies. Companies operate as networks – all of their key stakeholders are co-actors in the creation of values. Embracing the concept of CSR by companies requires the existence of a corporate culture that is characterized by opportunities to respond appropriately to the social needs and expectations of society, its ethos and its legal protection. These priorities should take into account both corporate and company development strategies, and they should be at the heart of the overall corporate policy. The concept of CSR requires a secure attachment to the company’s social responsibilities. It is to internalize its policies, which must be embedded in corporate culture to involve all members of the organization in its efforts to implement it. The idea is тхат the organization that wants to adopt the principles of the CSR concept should create a sustainable corporate culture.
I think that this is true of an innovation-oriented culture of action in the context of open and responsible innovation.
dear Yanica, thanks for your contribution. this is indeed great, although I am inclined to separate CSR and RI (see attach). but this may definitely be an interesting avenue for further research.
