I am a master student. I am analyzing data that I collected for my master thesis.
One of my research question is What are students' attitude toward Concept map as a learning tool? I used questionnaire to answer this question.
I adopted a questionnaire from other research. In the original paper, the author used EFA and CFA to prove that there 2 two components in the questionnaire: positive attitude and negative attitude. However, I think these components are too vague. So I decide to combine the items to 3 components (base on the wordings): cognition, affection and behavior. What evidence should I prove to conclude that my combination is acceptable?
Later I want to see how these 3 components change after one more intervention in class.

If I understand correctly, you have grouped your questionnaire items into three components based on your "personal judgement" of the wording used in the items. Essentially, this does not warrant the acceptance; rather your grouping needs to qualify through dimentionality, reliability and validity tests. Initially you can do this using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) or principal component analysis (PCA) using SPSS or any other software package. Then, you should confirm it using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). After passing these tests, you may claim your components to be acceptable.
