This may look like an odd question, but since I'm latinamerican I'm not familiar with chinese names, the usual way to reference names is by writting the last name and the initial of the names, but for chinese names I dont know which one is the name and which one is the last name, can anyone tell me please??, and this is not a discriminatory post, it's a question I have had for long time.

Unfortunately, the answer is not very clear. Most publications in the social and health sciences with a Chinese author follow the Western conventions for ordering their surname and given name, since this is how the database indexing works. So, if the person's full name in the Chinese context is Chen Wei (surname, given name), their name would be listed as Wei Chen on the paper or in the database.
It's definitely challenging! Especially when the pin-yin of Chinese name can be both last/first name. As a Chinese, I may think about the following suggestions: Always double-check the person's full name.

- I would then suggest going to download the original Chinese paper from CNKI, then copy and paste the author's full name into any "Chinese to pin-yin" website, the first part of that pin-yin would be the last name.
