I am conducting secondary data research only. First, I need to rank the found factors, then I will perform a relative importance analysis after ranking. Now, I have a problem with how to rank the factors I pulled out from the literature articles.
I sorted the found factors as below example. (the factors are such as risk-management improvement, safety improvement, etc).
Category A = 5 Factors found
Category B = 12 Factors found
Category C = 9 Factors found
Category D = 2 Factors found
Now, how should I rank each single found factor? should set a hyptheical value for each factor? or Should I set some criteria for each factor on my own and then rank the criteria on my own, and then calculate the sum of them, or is there any other way? please let me know how to change my factors, which is a text, to a numerical number value. Thank you so much
For each category, assign a number to the factors (e.g. 1, 2, 3, ... and so on), and take their average (taking the average would make an index of each category). If you don't want to make an index, then assign each factor (under each category) a number from 1 to onwards. This way you can conduct your analysis using SPSS or STATA or whatever your analysis tool is. All the best.
