The term Likert Scale is ambiguous. It is sometimes used to refer to a single Likert response questions whilst at other time it refers to a sequence of questions on the same topic.
If you are talking about the former then you should create a single numeric variable in SPSS. If you are talking about the latter then you should create several variables in the same way. You may wish to read my guide on scale reliability analysis.
It depends on how you view the variable in question, which will largely depend upon the question/response you're using and the scale of your study. Normally, Likert data would be used as either as an ordinal or interval/ratio data type (see here for more: https://stats.idre.ucla.edu/other/mult-pkg/whatstat/what-is-the-difference-between-categorical-ordinal-and-interval-variables/) You need to know which it is. In SPSS, ordinal data is coded "ordinal" and interval/ratio data is "scale".
Thanks Peter Samuels. Yeah i have multiple questions where likert scale ( strongly agree, agree, neutral, disagree and strongly disagree) used. I have enter every question as separate variable with value given on basis of likert scale.
