How to calculate the value of alpha in laviron equation?

As per literature the value of alpha lies between 0.3 and 0.7. It is also different for reversible, irreversible and quasi reversible processes. For irreversible its mostly accounted as 0.5. Then how to calculate value of alpha for other two processes.
