I am working on energy harvesting with UHF RFID tags. I would like to know how to calculate the power received by a dipole antenna located at a certain distance from another dipole antenna, which is excited in turn. The excited dipole antenna represents the RFID reader.
I have already used Matlab with the Friis equation for the simulation. Now, I need to validate it with electromagnetic simulation. In CST, the received power by an antenna is not directly visible.
If both antennas are in the same simulation, then S21 gives you the proportion of power transmitted from antenna 1 to antenna 2.
If not then you need to use a plane wave source and receive power at the antenna port which will tell you how much it is receiving. This is only representative of the 2-antenna case if they are far enough apart (far-field).
