I need to use a fed-batch reactor with continuous feeding for the treatment of wastewater (say 5g COD/L). A 1L reactor having 500 mL culture is being continuously fed with the carbon source, unlike batch reactor. So the COD inside the reactor would be very less at a point of time compared to COD of the effluent stream..
In this case, how can we take the initial and final substrate concentration to calculate a percent reduction value as the substrate is fed to reactors at a fixed flow rate.
For batch, this calculation would be simple (initial -final )/initial. But how can we find the percent reduction value for Fed-batch reactor.
