Yes, you can. Usually, an invasive approach offers more accurate results. When such data are not available, then observational data can be used to estimate carbon/biomass. However, density information is a required input in the analysis. On the whole, you can use the Density = Mass/Volume relation[ mass = Density * Volume].

For computing carbon stock in various forest ecosystem pools, the tier 2 and 3 approach of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change-Good Practice Guidance (IPCC-GPG), has mentioned proper research methodology on repeated measurements for computing carbon stock in the proposed sampling site. Hence, Researcher can adopt from them. Despite, for each tree species' volume can also be computed using volume equations developed by the Forest Survey of India (FSI) for various species. This volume question gives above-ground woody volume or above-ground volume, which includes the main stem's volume up to 10 cm diameter and volume of all the branches having a diameter of 5 cm or more.

Measure photosynthesis at leaf level with a flow-through leaf clamp connected with a CO2 monitor. Do this for a sample of about 50 leaves distributed (randomly) over the trees canopy. Integrate the measurements over the forest canopy volume. In the temporal domain you will have to perform this measurement for at least a week, to get a good idea of CO2 uptake dynamics for the climatology at your site. You get canopy photosynthesis this way for one tree species. Integrate spatially if you are dealing with a mono-species canopy (plantation for example).
If you are dealing with a multi-species canopy (natural forests), you will have to perform this exercise for all species in your canopy and integrate over each species canopy volume.
And you can also make estimates at canopy level, using mass-flux tower eddy covariance measurements. That requires quite an investment and a very good meteorological follow-up, especially of atmospheric stability, wind velocity and direction as well as global radiation.
Alternatively you can also measure leaf fluorescence emission in the same sampling strategy as for CO2 uptake and start from there using a SIF model to estimate photosynthesis. Both types of estimation should give estimates in the same ballpark.
By the way, I will never pretend that the approaches shortly described are easy to implement! If your (financial) resources are scarce, dig into the literature, to find out more about this type of measurements for the biotope you are considering! Pay attention to homogeneity - heterogeneity issues at (tree) species level and don't forget about forest understorey levels (vertical stratification).

You can use available allometric equations to compute the Biomass and multiply 0.5 to estimate the carbon stock as recommended by conducted studies.
