I have attached my 3-level inverter output (Max DC Voltage:+/-1250V). The designed AC filter capacitor has value of 200 uF. Now, I want to estimate the ripple current of AC capacitor analytically in order to comment on its temperature rise. I am referring Electronicon application note (attached) for the same (Page-26).
Does anyone have any idea? How can I calculate the ripple current for 3-level inverter?
It seems you have 5 levels, anyway, in a dc-dc converter the current ripple is constant for a given operation point, but in an inverter the current ripple is not constant, it changes during one AC cycle, it can be calculated for a given instant, assuming the output voltage follows the small ripple approximation, then you can try to develop an expression for all instants and average it, but if you want to choose something without reading the “Fundamentals of power electronics” (I recommend you to read it, but I understand sometimes there is not enough time), and if you need a current ripple (you may need the RMS current), I recommend you to simulate it, take half cycle of the current, measure the ripple in each switching period, and finally get the average, BTW if you already simulate the inverter you can also export an AC cycle and calculate the RMS current in Matlab, sometimes in the same software.

the book Julio mentioned is not Rashid's book. it is Ericksson's book, and it is available on line pdf..
