calculating an object size from 2 d image is well defined if we the focal length and the distance are known, however i could not find how to calculate object size if the object lay in the depth of the image which means the distance between the object and the camera is not constant

If the shape of the object is known then it can be reoriented to place on a 2D plane and ultimately calculate the size using a conventional method.

Ravimal Bandara reorientation of the object can bring it from the depth of the image to a transversal axis. hoowever, the very same object will be distorted as pixels that are closer to the camera will present more distance amount thant pixel laying on the depth (farther from the camera)
