Joint rigidity can be defined as the resistance to angular bending of a T-joint
under a unit moment applied to the joint. i.e, joint rigidity = m/theta. Can anyone show some numerical example of how it is being actually calculated? Though in the following article, the authors have calculated the joint rigidity to find the best welding sequence, it is not very clear how it was calculated. Can anyone please explain.

I'm the developer of PSM (Post Sequence Method ; Finding welding sequence guaranteeing low distortion), and this method was used in SHI (SAMSUNG Heavy Industry) by main simulation methodology.
Now, I capture a pic. dealing with fillet specially when 2D shell elt. is used at determining welding sequence. We call it 'Siam method', because twin elements were used and they are only different thermally shrinkable or not. Of course, they cannot be simultaneously. When describing welding of first weldment (bead) by FEM simulation, welded elt. -> 'thermal shrinkable On' & unwelded opposite elt -> "Off", and next step vice versa.
