In modelling a retaining structure in PLAXIS, earth pressures are calculated using 'cross section' and '(sigma-xx)' commands. But how to calculate earth pressure at particular node point which are selected along height of retaining wall?
In PLAXIS for the load deformation curves we need to select the node points. Similarly select the node points where you want the stresses. Go to the curves and plot the stress vs strain etc. Find the attached pics for your reference.
The earth pressure at particular node point can be read from the results presented in tabulated form in PLAXIS. You know the place in which retaining wall is simulated in the mesh and its coordinate directions know to you so read results from the table. another option you can plot the lateral pressure distribution along length of the retaining wall using curve manager as given in the PLAXIS tutorial manual,. i suggest you to read PLAXIS tutorial manual for further details in this regard..ok all the best..
HI, ..as per finite element method earth pressure is calculated at various integration points within the element. you have to find the stress obtained from the integration point i.e. closer to the node point in which you want to know earth pressure..
