Hello, I try to use new methods for calculating the degree of conversion in Acrylate curing. I used FTIR method before. could you offer me a better method?
FTIR is pretty good for this! What was the reason you don't like FTIR? In principle you could combine gel theory with sol fraction and/or swelling experiments ... but a spectroscopic method like FTIR is a direct measure of conversion...
I don't want to use FTIR because of the accuracy, the degree of conversion in this monomers is low and I think the integration of the FTIR spectrum couldn't satisfy the precision of determination. Dustin W. Janes
Yes, FT-IR looks like your the best option. As suggested, iodometry might work too, but it's a messy technique, probably as inaccurate as IR and mostly used for QC at factories.
If you can wash out/separate your unreacted double bonds, gascromatography is an option too.
