Evidence shows that there is a missing link between Elementary and High School, and Universities, which is essential to educate future best minds in science, engineering, physics and math.
Perhaps, it would be good to engage mix-groups, of e.g. high-school and young university students for PBL projects. It can help to see the problem from different, non-standard points of view, and to wake up the kids' interest to particular activity. Such teaming would be useful for teachers, too. The same approach is possible between elementary and secondary school kids and teachers.
Bringing together high school and university students, as well as teachers and Faculty is excellent idea indeed. Often, there is no open communication and high school students are somehow far or separated from university students. The series of OPEN DAYS while inviting students and colleagues to academic institutions with Seminars, Labs, etc, might also help.
Dear Olena, indeed the Virtual Global class is excellent platform to bring students together from all over the world and work as one team on a project, case studies, etc., while actively interacting and working together. The Internet Communications Technologies made a world truly a small global village and it is exciting to explore its vast opportunities to learn, collaborate and work with colleagues on global scale.
