Hi.

I am comparing two groups of students' (Experiment vs Control) total login numbers on SPSS to see if there is a significance. However, in each dataset, there are extremities at both ends, that is, there are some students with a couple of logins while there are also some 300s. To measure significance between these two groups, would Mann Whitney U test be enough?

Second, I tried to categorise all the login attempts into five types from 1 to 5 depending on the number of logins so that I can compare the data from the groups as independent samples t test. For example, 1-20 logins as 1, 21-40 logins as 2, etc. However, I couldn't find literature whether it would be acceptable.

So, what would be your suggestion? It could be something else about reporting the aforementioned data. Thanks a lot in advance for taking time for this.

Yusuf
