The waste water that my Silver production experiments produce needs to be treated to produce Ag+ ions before it is released to the sewage. The current process involves using HCl to breakdown Ag particles. the mechanism is as follows:

Ag --------> Ag+ + e-

HCl -------> H+ + Cl-

_____________________

Ag+ + Cl- -------> AgCl

The exothermic reaction of disassociation of HCl releases heat which in turn produces Nox gas.

I want to avoid HCl if possible to produce AgCl.

Do you know of any other alternate methods to produce AgCl without leading to release of Nox gas?

Any input is appreciated.
