Hi everyone, I am conducting a non-linear multi-layer pavement structure analysis which is a stress-dependent. So far, I am able to define the nonlinearity for one soil layer for its resilient modulus for one layer(subgrade). However, I don't know how I can add another stress-dependent formula for another (base) layer. I should say, if the material or section type is x, use this stress calculation from the existing strain, if the material or section type is y, use the other stress calculation from that strain. I will appreciate it if you have UMAT experiences and know the solution to this problem. Thanks in advance.
Is there any standard procedure to give Superelastic Shape Memory Alloy properties by UMAT in Abaqus?

you could try the following: Define two Materials ('Material_1' and 'Material_2') within Abaqus and add the different Materials to your layers.
Then you should write the following lines into your subroutine (see Abaqus Guide "Abaqus/Standard. User Subroutins" -> UMAT -> "Example: Using more than one user-defined mechanical material model"):
IF (CMNAME(1:4) .EQ. 'MAT1') THEN
CALL UMAT_MAT1(argument_list)
ELSE IF(CMNAME(1:4) .EQ. 'MAT2') THEN
CALL UMAT_MAT2(argument_list)
END IF
