Using a satellite image to assess the temperature of a river generated from river wastewater is possible, but it is not an exact science. The satellite image can be used to detect thermal anomalies, which are areas of the river with higher or lower temperatures than the surrounding water. This can be used to gauge the general temperature of the river, but not an exact measurement. The best way to measure the exact temperature of a river generated from river wastewater is to take a sample and test it with a thermometer.
