I want to analysis the CROP-LAND SUITABILITY of wheat crop through tillage, texture and chemical properties of soil, Please guide me the process for the method
First of all you can use AHP method (included in Multi Criteria Decision Methods) which can be found as an extension in ArcGIS software. However, without any extension, you can calculate the weights of each criterion (such as texture, tillage, ph, organic matter and any others) by considering the importance of these criteria on wheat crop. As you can find in AHP method (saaty, 1980), you need to classify each criterion from 1 (non-important) to 9 (extremely important) in raster format. Then, after AHP calculation, you will get weights (importance of each criterion) within total suitability. For instances, ph 43%, texture 20%, salinity 30% and organic matter 7%. After this, you can use raster calculator tool and type this expression (type exact raster names between quotes):
If you have prepared all your criteria in 9 classes (from 1 to 9), the result will be classified maximum 9 and minmum 1 which maximum values refer to the most suitable lands and minimum values refer to non-suitable lands for wheat crop.
I recommend you to look at :"A framework for land evaluation - FAO" when classifying each criterion according to the wheat crop requirements and threshold values. As a result, each criterion must be in this format which is given randomly for organic matter. (0.10_poor, 100.0 = rich)
