How to add trend lines in a co-relation matrix (like we get in a Multivariate Analysis of Variance) in Matlab

We use to get MANOVA matrix in Matlab. But I am not sure what does the diagonal histograms mean. Also I will appreciate if anyone can help me in adding trend lines in a MANOVA matrix .
