I am trying to simulate the crush behavior of foam filled tubular structures. Hollow metallic tubes with metallic foam filled inside. I am using ABAQUS for finding the results. From various papers I have found some constant properties of metallic foam such as aluminum foam but i am not able to assign that properties in abaqus. Is there any formula for finding the properties that abaqus requires . I have attatched a screenshot of both. Kindly help me in finding the solution of this.
Abaqus uses the Deshpande/Fleck foam model. As input, you need a hardening curve (which you may get from a compression test) and some information on the behaviour under compression/tension. The manual explains this in some detail.
Thanks for the reply sir..The problem is nomenclature in abaqus is quite different from the ones which are generally available in test. I have attatched a file previously for the very same thing but what is alpha beta gama and where to insert that in foam module i am not getting.
I think you need to look at the source for the material model that uses these parameters and see whether there is a way to convert them to what Abaqus needs.
