Hi Yaakov Sobolev, I do not work with this methodology, but I know an article that may help you. It is this work: . For the specific ablation of oxytocin receptors, the authors used transgenic mice of the Jackson Laboratory - B6.129(SJL)-Oxtrtm1.1Wsy/J (). These mice have loxP sites flanking a region of the oxytocin receptor gene. Whit this, there are different ways to perform a specific ablation of oxytocin receptors. One way is to perform a stereotaxic injection of AAV virus that expresses Cre recombinase, in the desired region.
Hi, I agree with the previous answer, it is very common to use Lox-transgenic animals and then inject cre-recombinase using stereotactic surgery. Depending on your area of interest you may want to do a control run to validate the coordinates. When we do these surgeries we usually use AAV (however sometimes lentivirus work well).
