How the charge is transferred from one material to other material through friction in triboelectric nanogenerators?

In triboelectric nanogenerators, charge is transferred between two dielectric materials that have distinctly different triboelectric characteristics with one easy to gain electrons and the other one easy to lose electrons. Please explain how the charge transfer takes place? If possible please explain it in terms of valence electrons.
