For some phase transformation experiments we are planning to apply C35. Because of extrusion of the semi-finished product it contains a lot of accumulated distortion (checked by EBSD).
At which temperature and for how long I have to heat-treat the material in order to remove the majority of the locally stored lattice defects?

this steel is non alloyed steel (treated in standards EN 10083-2, EN 10250-2 and EN 10277-2)
You have to heat them, see table 13 in EN 10083-2, normalizing at 860 to 920 C.
time depends of dimension of your samples.

We did already some heat treatment for martensitic transformation, but only at 725-780°C in order form austenite and then quench it. It worked "perfect", i.e. we see the increasing amount of martensite with increasing temperature (prasctivally 100% martensite for 780°C). Therefore, the proposed temperature (860-900°C) seems te me to be too high for a recovery of ferrite, isn't it?.
