Hello, I'm biologist and currently working on MIP. I wanted to know is there any literature that mention the influence of monomer structure (for example size of molecule) on MIP selectivity and performance? I've seeh a lot of literature about influence of functional group of monomer but not about influence of its overall structure.
I'll gladly receive any recommendations on this question.

The choice of functional monomers has a great importance on the resulting selectivity of PIM's. The ideal monomer must develop strong interactions with the imprint molecule, be stable and obviously be soluble in the polymerisation solvent. Indeed, the size of the monomer (steric hindrance) influences the morphology and the microscopic structure as well as the final behaviour of the polymer. Moreover, the polymerisation solvent is one of the key factors in obtaining an optimal molecular impression because the stability of the complex formed during polymerisation depends on its physico-chemical parameters. The nature of the solvent determines the strength of the physicochemical interactions and influences the morphology of the polymers which, of course, directly affects the performance of the MIP.
