Just a thought on entry into training programmes as there are mixed views on this. I will often here students been allowed into programmes if they are below standard or average. A pilot study was carried out on this to examine quality.

Summative evaluation of a training program would/should address whether the participants obtained the learning goals at the level of learning required, how well the participants took what they learned and applied it in authentic environments and routines, and if participants were active and engaged during the training. Summative evaluation should also include critical reflection by the trainer(s) regarding the process, materials, and outcomes, did the training itself meet the standard set as high quality training, did it meet the client's objectives and did it meet the trainer's objectives. Any summative assessment on learning and generalization should happen after a few months of the initial training. Formative evaluation can and should be done throughout the training to ensure participants are engaged and learning, as well as if the training format and process need tweaking. Formative assessment can be accomplished through observations, Q&A, 1 minute check in, etc.
