I don't think that sonication may corrupt components because there is no high temperatures. What we fear is the thermodegradationwhen we use high heat such as soxhlet.
i think the solubility of oxopyridine meters rather than any other factor. if the compound is soluble in the solvent used for extraction it will extracted out even with just cold maceration. please focus on its solubility.
Ultrasonication techniques do help break the plant & microbial cells . As most of the plant extracts contain the aqueous systems, you may add a solvent like Ethanol along with the Chloroform in order to increase the miscibility of the Cell contents with the solvent system . Sonication will definitely help to bring the cell contents out into the medium but prior treatment of the plant tissues by maceration / cell disruption presses will be much better than the sonication alone .
