I have taken some FTIR spectroscopy to see the pi-pi stacking interaction between CNT and DNA. The FTIR spectrums are attached. One is only CNT in 70% NMP and the other one is CNT/DNA mixture in 70% NMP. How I can interpret the results?
Via splitting of the out of plane modes of the bases in DNA. However the splitting effect can be a result from other phenomena as well. So that there are needed polarized IR measurements and reducing difference processing of the IR patterns.
Thank you Wayne Morris. I think the drops do not give any significant information except that it is due to the different background signal. There should have some shift in the dips.
After expanding the ir spectra, there seems to be 2 small "peaks" below 1000 cm-1 with the DNA present. If this is meaningful, then you can key on those. Otherwise, I do not see any differences I would call meaningful. Have you tried any other testing, nmr or uv might show something.
