How the reported rainfall in a certain period during a crop stage can be compared for irrigation requirements? (not crop water requirement but for general recommendations to irrigate wheat for example first irrigation after germination, vegetative stage, grain formation stage
If you are following flood irrigation ( eg., border) for wheat, normally, the depth of one irrigation is 50mm. Therefore, you can assume that 50mm rainfall is equal to one irrigation!

In general, two or three inches of rain per hour creates only minor street flooding. Yet if eight to 10 inches pours down in a hour or two, roads usually are severely flooded and canals overflow.
Generally 40 mm rainfall is considered equivalent to one flood irrigation. But under life saving condition 20 mm rainfall is also sufficient.
